Freedom

A song about freedom runs through my mind;
every day I wonder what it’s like in foreign lands.
Are we trapped in the snares of modern dungeons
built by those in power?
Who is the authority? Why does the authority matter at all,
when they are merely human—a different face, the same body?
Why do we fail to see? Why do we remain blind?
Why not choose to be beautiful instead?
Above us all, there is someone—
something that arrives at the right moment
to show us how—
how to be human.
That is it.
